WATER TANKS

Water tank is an infrastructure facility of the category of artificial accumulation tanks serving as water reservoirs. The most appropriate and most frequently used type is a round cylinder. The structural design depends on local site conditions. Tanks typically are partially underground, the surface part is protected by a soil fill. Often the tanks are constructed as pairs or triplets.

WATER TANK FUNCTIONS

Accumulation function – water tank as a water reservoir provides for a continuous water supply in case of its non-constant daily consumption. The tank volume is designed for particular demand.

Pressure function – on all points of water pipeline network, the water tank provides the required minimum hydrodynamic overpressure (0,15 – 0,2 MPa). The pressure value is limited to 0,6 MPa, exceptionally to 0,8 MPa. Water supplied region with high altitude differences shall be split to particular pressure zones with particular water tanks. In some cases, pressure stations with high pressure pumps shall be constructed additionally to water tanks in order to provide for keeping the correct pressure conditions. Pressures in the distribution network depend on the way of water transportation, on daily non-constant consumption and on water tank location.

Fire and reserve function – water tank provides for a designed fire water capacity and serves as a reserve in failure cases.

Water tanks do not always provide all three functions. Should water tank be of just a pressure function, a pressure station is applied. EKOSERVIS SLOVENSKO s.r.o. offers water tanks in plastic design (various capacities) including the technology devices according to the customer’s requirements.
