LAMELLAR DEHYDRATOR FOR SLUDGE DEWATERING
A spiral dehydrator serves for sludge dewatering. The device is small size and light, operating in the automated operation with minimum demand of operation servicing and maintenance. Produced in the standard range of several sizes, due to low investment and operating cost it is applicable mainly for industrial waste water treatment plants and for municipal WWTP up to 10 000 EO /population equivalent/. Another advantageous feature is the ability to process the sludge directly from the purification process.
TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION
Sludge is pumped to the dehydrator storage tank, automate controlled according to the tank level height. Out of the tank, it is pumped by a volumetric pump to the operation tank to mix with a flocculant and flows to the dewatering device. The quantity to dewater is set up by the volumetric pump and a bypass between the operation and storage tank.
DEHYDRATION PRINCIPLE
After flocculation, sludge from the operating tank flows to the dehydrator drum consisting of a screw conveyor and a system of moving lamellas. The lamellas are separated by gaps of various width inside the thickening, drainage and compression zones. The screw conveyor presses by a rotation to the lamellas cleaning the space between them and dicharging the filtrate. The sludge falls out to the container through a pressure board at the end of a dehydrator drum.
INVESTMENT COST
Investment cost for a drainage system include: lamella dehydrator, flocculant production unit, electrical cabling, switchboard, control system, sludge inlet to the storage tank.
OPERATING COST
Electric power consumption from 0,3 kW/h to 0,8 kW/h. Water consumption 24 l/hr – 40 l/hr.
PRODUCT ASSESSMENT
The offered lamellar dehydrator is appropriate for sludge drainage from small operation facilities, from industrial WWTP and municipal WWTP up to 10 000 EO. In this standard range, it has advantages over other sludge mechanical drainage systems due to its size and an investment and operating cost. Very good results are achieved by the sludge of high content of grease and crude oil products. The advantages include: low power consumption, low water for flushing, automated operation, minimal service, good access to technical equipment, long service life. Delivery period depending on size is 3 – 12 weeks.
